Petition: Save The Coventry Elephant

The Coventry Elephant is at risk!

Now that the old Coventry Sports Centre has been boarded up the elephant is in danger of being destroyed. The council are currently in negotiations over the building but the details have not been made public.

We are proposing plans to transform the building into a new arts and exhibition centre which will be part of Coventry’s City of Culture legacy. We are also proposing plans for a new rooftop terrace and bistro bar with views overlooking the cathedral and the city centre.

This petition has finished with 876 signatures.

  1. Both buildings commissioned by Labour by the great
Arthur James Waugh SNR alderman and honoury freeman of Coventry

  2. Iโ€™m totally disillusioned by our cityโ€™s planning department these days, as they seem completely disconnected from the cityโ€™s residents and instead feel the need to address a different agenda.
Please can you listen to us and make this city a welcoming place rather than an architectural nightmare!

  3. Please save the building and repurpose it for a different use. In 2021 the building should be celebrated & the story told of this iconic building
