What Are Local Residents Paying For?
Residents who live on new housing developments in Eastern Green, Pickford Green and Brownshill Green have to pay extra council tax to Allesley Parish Council.
This is because the parish council boundary has not been changed to reflect new developments in these areas. In addition, there are residents in both Eastern Green and Brownshill Green with next door neighbours who do not have to pay extra council tax.

What’s more, the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) recently carried out a review of electoral wards (where voters live) in Coventry and has made some significant changes including splitting the parish council into two new wards (Allesley and Eastern Green).
This is because it now lies across two city council wards (Bablake and Woodlands). The LGBCE had to make these arrangements because Coventry City Council did not carry out its own review of the parish boundary when it should have.
Unfortunately, the city council has refused to carry out a review of the parish boundary without a petition from local residents for 10 years.
We are calling for the city council to carry out a review now so residents can have their say on whether or not they want to continue paying extra council tax for no benefit.
Local Ward Names No Longer Match Local Geography
We are also calling for Coventry City Council to look at local ward names as part of a community governance review due to the recent changes made by the Boundary Commission (LGBCE).
